GEA Refrigeration combines advanced hygiene and freezing technologies, remote system monitoring and worldwide customer service under the GEA Freezing brand.
‘s-Hertogenbosch (NL)/Vancouver, BC, Sept. 23, 2009 -- GEA Refrigeration, a division of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft, has announced the formation of GEA Freezing, a group of subsidiary companies specializing in chilling and freezing equipment and services for the frozen food processing industry.
GEA Freezing brings together industry leaders Aerofreeze, Eurotek and Intec to provide a uniform product line and worldwide access to service and technology innovation. The new organization designs and manufactures in-line tunnel, spiral, and carton freezers/chillers for large food processors.
“Food processors around the world will benefit from the shared resources, technical expertise and service support our combined companies will provide,” said Jean-Michel Daviaud, vice president of GEA Refrigeration. “Our individual records of innovation and customer service are now coming together to address the food processor’s need for improved hygiene and more energy efficient operations.”
GEA Freezing will be showing its latest innovations at Process Expo, part of Pack Expo, October 5 – 7, 2009, in Las Vegas, Nevada at booth 6802 and at the World Wide Food Expo, booth S3300, October 28 – 31 in Chicago, Illinois.
New innovations featured at this year’s shows are next-generation design features that improve hygiene and reduce operating costs, as well as a Web-based monitoring and reporting capability that can improve system efficiency and energy management.
The cleaning system acts like a dishwasher to assure consistent hygiene and reduce the number of personnel required for routine maintenance. Design features such as sloped surfaces, welded seams, and non-hollow structures make hygiene cleaning cycles faster and easier.
Highly efficient frost management systems such as Sequential Defrost and Snow Removal Systems are available ensuring extended run times.
GEA Freezing is also introducing its second generation top-drive spiral freezers which can be designed around any type of panel enclosure. “This significant design enhancement brings the benefits of the top drive system to a much broader range of customers,” said Daviaud.
The new remote monitoring system gives instant access to a wide variety of system functions such as temperature, speed, retention time, power usage, alarms, etc. Cleaning functions such as water temperature and cleaning cycles can also be included in monitoring data and be included in regulated hygiene reports. System reports, individually and in combination, allow plant managers to monitor production from the desk in their office or anywhere they have access to the World Wide Web. They also provide a historical view of system operation to assure consistent production between shifts and assure product quality. Food processors can also contract with GEA Freezing to provide round-the-clock monitoring and emergency notification and support.
